Amadeo Grosman, ‘A Tall White Fountain Played’, 2022. Digital video, original duration 25:00
In 2022 as part of his final year of art studies, Amadeo Grosman (Argentina/NZ) was commissioned by the gallery to create a unique large-scale digital work for The Confessions project in Auckland. The sole brief was to allow the visuals to be inspired by a seminal work of music by Scottish composer Sir James MacMillan, entitled ‘The Confessions of Isobel Gowdie’ (1990).
The resulting film was shown for two weeks in a former concrete silo on Auckland’s waterfront, and gained considerable traction.
The home page of this website is, in fact, a 25-month durational artwork, where the film is split into 60-second chronological sequences. On the first of each month, the page changes out to form a ‘slow digital’ experience. Once complete, the film will be shown in its entirety in a special gallery show.
